HDMI is a proprietary interface for transmitting video and audio through cable from a source such as a DVD player, Blu-ray player, game consoles such as PlayStation, XBox, Nintendo Switch, digital or satellite television decoder, a smart TV box or video player with hard drive.

HDMI 2.1 is the most recent version, released in 2017, with important advantages such as video support with a maximum resolution of 10K, bandwidth of up to 48 Gb/s, dynamic HDR, VRR and ALLM technologies for gaming and 60 Hz support for 8K resolution and 120 Hz for 4K resolution.

To enjoy all these advantages you must use a cable prepared for HDMI 2.1, in appearance they are the same as the cables of previous versions and you can use a version 1.0 cable on a TV with an HDMI 2.1 connector but you will not be able to enjoy those advantages.
